In the last three months, I’ve had several speaking engagements, which has been both awesome and exhausting.
Don’t get me wrong — I’m grateful. Beyond grateful. But it’s been quite the logistical challenge at Two Cup House seeing as how we’re a one-car family.
Choosing to pack the schedule the way I did isn’t something I’ll repeat. However, there was one moment on October 20 that I knew it was all worth it, one moment that blew my mind.
In all our conversations about this new service-based business, I had in mind a persona that embodied the exact client I wanted to serve; this persona I had in mind happens to be based on a real person. For years, I’ve been saying I wanted to create a business to serve clients like [this person]. And I said it over and over and over again. Garrett can confirm.
Well, I had an event to launch this new business on October 20. Guess who walks in the door? Yep. The real-life person who my persona is based on.
I didn’t invite [this person] to the event.
I didn’t even keep in touch with [this person] since we had met only one time.
This event wasn’t even geared toward [this person].
And here’s the real kicker. She didn’t even remember me.
Somehow, the universe heard my intentions and served up my wishes on a silver platter. In a county with a population more than a half million, I have no doubt in my mind that this was all the universe at work.
You might be wondering…why write about this? How does this relate to personal finance or financial independence/early retirement or even tiny houses?
Whatever hesitation or disbelief I had about the power of intention and discipline left me the moment that [this person] walked back into my life. I’m now 100% confident that we’re going to achieve everything that we set out to do. Everything. Even this crazy lofty goal of financial independence/early retirement by May 18, 2019.
I encourage you to consider this…
No matter what your goal is, no matter how much you make today or how much you want to earn in the future, no matter what your plan is, do this…
Write the plan/goal/dream down.
Read it often.
Record yourself reading the plan/goal/dream and then listen to it.
Whatever you do, commit to it and each day you’ll shift your course a teensy bit to slight edge you way in that direction. Sometimes you’ll shift consciously, like if you try an early morning routine, or maybe it’ll be unconscious because it’s actually become a habit; either way, write down your plan and review it often. Consider even starting a free anonymous WordPress blog to track the process you’re making on your journey. We’ll be here to cheer you on along the way!
